From a frozen chicken near you

Frozen eggs in a milk carton, and I really do mean hard-as-a-rock frozen. I can understand frozen foods in general -- you might even call me a fan -- but eggs? When would this ever be preferable over fresh eggs? I can't imagine that it's nutritionally more advantageous, and it isn't as if frozen eggs are more convenient to use... They're eggs! Step one, crack. Step two, use.
So why? Or, more importantly, who would buy frozen eggs?
(Googling for "frozen eggs" turned up all sorts of articles on IVF. Now those kinds of frozen eggs I can understand. Hur hur.)

never heard of this before...but my first thought was, ' they keep longer?'
Anyway...I wonder how frozen eggs look like when the shell is removed. No, actually I'm really curious, maybe I'll steal an egg from the basket and try freezing it one of these days.:)
step one: crack step two: use
i like the way you teach your readers how to use an egg. =)
Urm, so that you don't have to peel the shells off if you are hard-boiling them?
I'm guessing here but some foods, like 小笼包, are made with frozen soup so that the soup will melt and be contained within the skin once its steamed. Maybe they use frozen eggs for something like that?
BoY: I'm sure they'll keep longer... which will be handy for when I... need... to... store eggs for a year? =\ Haha, I'll keep it in mind for when I decide to do my grocery shopping for the year in one sitting. :) (I found a piccie of a frozen egg here.)
lyn: :) I wanted to write "Step two, cook" but then I know people who put egg on their face and in their hair, so. ;)
Vandice: During the course of hard-boiling, won't the eggs melt first? Well, okay, I guess if people don't mind their hard-boiled eggs misshapened. ;) I understand the xiaolongbao-ish purpose more, although at the moment, no specific dish comes to mind. :p
it actually looks pretty...nice. yeah...luminous and nice. :)
alriiiight...i'm so gonna steal an egg to freeze just for the fun of it now...
Now I want to know how it tastes! Quick, try it and let me know! :)
i said "freeze", not "eat".:)
Aw, but where's the fun in that? ;) If you're gonna freeze it, might as well go all the way! *nudge* Raw frozen egg. Who knows, you might start a fad. :p
I can't imagine those people who are so used to using the microwave to thaw their frozen food.
Confirm sure kena messy explosion inside the nuke box.
JayWalk: Ew, thawed egg. That just sounds wrong, explosion or not. ;)
KoP: Haha, in other words, apart from industrial preparation (I don't think they'll buy their supplies from supermarkets), most of the reasons for using frozen eggs can be attributed to laziness? ;)
