Unemployed: Day 23
Job hunting is exhausting -- physically and emotionally. I don't want to blog about work, if and when that comes around, so I'm trying not to blog about the applications and the interviews, but man, I'm tired.
Days like these, I wish I could just be a stay-home mom... to Amy! ;)
We had our first taste of rain since she's been here, and Jin had informed us about Amy's fear of thunder. Fortunately, the rain didn't last long, and surprisingly there wasn't much drooling on Amy's part. She did, however, decide to camp under my table -- under the drawers -- trembling, until the rain stopped.

I tried to pry her away from the spot a couple of times, but she'd scuttle back in, so that was that. Rocky was extremely frightened of thunder and lightning as well, but his way of dealing with it was to find someone to attach himself too, in a way that maximised the area of contact! If I were sitting on the floor, he'd stretch his body along the length of my leg; if I were lying on the bed, he'd stretch his body along the length of mine. You get the idea.
Apart from that episode, she's been doing well. The first couple of days, she wouldn't go upstairs unless she was called, but today she's been venturing up and down on her own.

And while Rocky used to sleep on my bed, Amy seems to still observe the out-of-bounds rule that was set in Jin's house. ;) We're just trying to let her do her own thing for now, and she seems content to sleep amongst the cushions at the foot of my bed.

Looks familiar? Yeah, Rocky used to curl up at that very same spot all the time. :) The reason why I'd bought dark blue cushions was so that his black fur wouldn't show on the cushions when he shed. With Amy having three different colours of dog hair... I can't win! Helloo, vacuum!

thanks for another updates. sorry to have bothered you with the sms yesterday as it was raining cats and dogs where i work yesterday and i was worried that she might flood your place haha...good to know that she found her secure spot under your drawers..that's amy, she thinks she's an osterich, and no use trying to get her out...stubborn!! when she was with us and when someone was home with her during rainy days, one of her hiding places was the small gab between the sofa and the bookshelf:
http://jinsiew02.livejournal.com/17156.html
thank goodness that once she settled she will not drool coz that little gab is where we place our phone and laptop etc.
once you know where she is most comfy to ride thru the rainy days just bring her back to settle her. she is one good weather forecast btw, even before the rain comes when it is still bright and sunny, if you see her getting nervous you may want to ask the helper to collect the laundry from outside haha!! sometimes she is so accurate, it is spooky!!
thanks again for all the updates and photos!! really appreciate them :)
is she hyperactive? Has a beagle years back who was a bundle of energy. Chewed through my CD collection..
aberwyn: sounds like a beagle to chew thru stuffs alright :) amy has settled down alot already...although when she was a puppy during the first two years she did chew thru alot of things at home...including our walls, paints and plasters all the way to the cement concrete!! but no longer doing so, comes with age :) sometimes she does not even like to be walked daily!! like when we started walking her sometimes, all she wanted to go is back to home!! she is just fearful of the rain and thunder...
jin and ming: It's no bother! :) But yeah, I think they can sense the changes in humidity or something, that's why they are great at predicting weather! ;) And I'm so grateful that she doesn't chew or drool. Phew! :p
aberwyn: She does show bursts of energy, especially when we come home, she'd paw and lick us like crazy and want to play. But thankfully she mellows back down after a while. I don't think we have the energy to keep up with her if she's hyperactive all day long! :p
Hi,
Good to know Amy is doing well. Amy does the funniest things.
I rememeber when she camps over at the shop, she will squash beside the crate, behind the blower everytime it thunders. And as she is long enough to block the door from opening, we have the hardest time sometimes to pry her away! hahahah
But she learn to listen for footsteps from the other side of the door. Then she move away a little bit to aviod being banged when the door opens! Clever!
Have Fun!

Hi angelin, yah Amy sometimes like to sleep behind the doors when they're closed. I always worry that she will get squashed if someone opens the door to quickly, but thankfully she's pretty alert, and always knows when someone is approaching on the other side of the door! ;)
