Honesty: the best policy

Dr. C: "There's nothing wrong if you want to settle for a $3,500-job in this [particular] petroleum company, as long as you are aware that it is a business-driven company. Me? I turned them down three times. I'm a technologically-driven person; I've never played golf in my life."

Dr. C: "A good presentation is one in which you can impress your boss. There are two ways to this: either you are smart, or your boss is stupid."

Hmm, new guy?
TRS: All of Conrad's texts are difficult to read (or those I've read), especially in the initial pages. I habitually quote bits out of the books I read; I don't think it necessarily means I "dwell too much" on them, but reading is only rewarding if you engage yourself with the text. HD is easily misunderstood at face value; it is a political critique on colonialism -- not as "dark" as it sounds. :) P.S. Honesty and tact are not mutually exclusive; tact at the expense of honesty is hypocrisy.
Vandice: No leh, quite old. Are you trying to figure out who he is? :p
