Cheers

X and I were in the car. Somehow I didn't think that the shortest way from Orchard to Tanjong Pagar was through Clementi, but X assured me of her impeccable navigation skills, so off we went. Of course, we promptly got lost...

"Oh my gosh," I shook my head in mock despair as we stopped at the red light. "We're like... Dumb and Dumber!"

We laughed, and then paused at the same time. Turning and pointing to each other, we shouted in unison: "YOU'RE DUMBER!!!"

Well, almost in unison; I edged her out by a nanosecond.

"MUAHAHA!!!" I cackled at this victory.

"What are you so happy about?" she snickered. "You're still Dumb."

"..."

Not wanting to end the year on that note, here's something that I was reminded of in the past week -- one of the few things that make complete sense even when the world seems topsy-turvy. I hope it inspires you as much as it does me. Have a wonderful year ahead, all! :)

People are often unreasonable, illogical, and self-centred; forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives; be kind anyway.

If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies; succeed anyway.

If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you; be honest and frank anyway.

What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight; build anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous; be happy anyway.

The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow; do good anyway.

Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough; give the world the best you've got anyway.

You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and God; it was never between you and them anyway.
