I know that there are other ambassadors for this year's Speak Mandarin Campaign, but in the past week, I've only seen features on Hossan Leong and Lin Junjie. The same vein of sentiment runs through both articles: former ACS student, now... um, ambassador for the Speak Mandarin Campaign -- like it's a miracle, something unthinkable; a tiresome and overused stereotype.
Ah, but on second thought, what do I know; I'm just an MGS girl whose friends haven't forgiven her for translating "青出于蓝" into "green is bluer than blue." ;)

Aiyah... what better spokesperson than a AC (or SJI) boy?
The message would be even clearer that if we can do it, so can anyone else.
That way we can allay the fears of those who get easily discouraged, thinking that it is very difficult to learn lor.
You're the perfect poster boy for the Speak Mandarin Campaign! Hossan who? ;)
I came from a super cheena school - chung Cheng High Main.... but I still consider myself pretty much a gentang la. Haha the 4 years of Chinese education didn't do much to de-Westernize me. I'm pretty all right in terms of covnersational mandarin, but ask her to read Chinese books and I'll be the first to admit myself to Woodbridge.
I only read Chinese books when I had to submit book reviews in school. ;)
